String Camp
   For 42 years, we have consistently offered the best in music instruction in an ideal geographical setting in Northern Michigan.Wolverine provides a positive, safe and secure learning environment for students to further develop and explore their talents. Enrollments are limited per instrument so sign up early. Call for more information.

Camp Director
T. Dave Pugh - This will be Mr. Pugh's 5th summer at Wolverine Camp. He has taught band and orchestra in the Michigan public schools for 19 years. At Lakewood High School in Lake Odessa, his bands performed in two European tours and for two U.S. Presidents. At Byron Center Schools, Mr. Pugh started an orchestra program in the 5th grade and after 6 years, the program consisted of 140 students in grades 5 through 12. Currently at Concord Academy in Petoskey, Mr. Pugh played French horn in the 126 Army Band for 14 years and currently plays the string bass with the Great Lakes Chamber Orchestra.

Camp Staff
Dr. Robert Reed – Dr. Reed is our guest Clinician. His cello training has been
with the University of Michigan, Eastern Michigan University and the New England
Conservatory of Music.
Robert has had many influential and well known teachers over the years, including
Louis Potter at MSU, Stephen Kates, Lawrence Lesser and Erling Bangtsson. He has
Soloed with orchestras throughout Michigan. When musical acts are touring in the
metro Detroit area, they often hire local musicians. As a result, Robert has had the
opportunity to play with the likes of John Denver, YES, Rod Stewart, Clay Aiken and
Aretha Franklin. He subs with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, which he considers an
Honor and plays under contract with the Michigan Opera, located in Detroit.

Jim Van Eizenga – Jim is a Music education major at Western Michigan
University. He is a member of the WMU Symphony Orchestra where he plays in the
viola section. In the past he has been Principal Viola of t he Grand Rapids Classical
Orchestra and a viola section member of the Grand Rapids Youth Symphony. He
has performed professionally with the Gaylord Chamber Orchestra and the Southwest
Michigan Symphony. His primary teachers include Kristen Shoup, Olag Ziabrolpva
and Igor Fedotov.

Joanna Bozin – Joanna is a Music Education Major at Western Michigan U
University. She is a member of the WMU Symphony Orchestra where she is a member
of the violin section. In the past, Joanna was the Concertmaster of the Gaylord
Youth Orchestra. Her primary teachers include Kathy Volke and Renata Knific.

Angelica Kalasz – Angelica is a Music Education major at Western Michigan
University. She is a member of the WMU Symphony Orchestra where she is a member
of the cello section. In the past, she played in the Metropolitan Youth Symphony
where she was in the cello section. Her primary teachers include Dr. Diane Winder
and Bruce Uchimura.
