For 41 years, we have consistently offered the best in
music Instruction in an ideal geographical setting in Northern
Michigan. Enrollments are limited per instrument so sign up early.
Camp Director
Christopher Charboneau
- This will be Chris’s 21st summer at Wolverine. He is currently the
Director of Bands and Music Department Chair in the Oak Park Public
Schools. During his sixteen year teaching career, Chris’s high school
and middle school bands have consistently earned first division ratings
at District and State band festivals. He also serves as an adjudicator
for the Michigan School Band and Orchestra Association, as well as a
guest conductor and clinician throughout the state.
Camp Staff
John Kumjian
- This will be John’s 7th summer at Wolverine as our percussion
instructor. He is currently in his 23rd year of teaching, and 10th year
as the band director at Glen Lake Community Schools in Maple City.
Melissa Wakeley-Sapienza
- This will be Melissa’s 9th summer as our trumpet instructor.
Melissa is in her 3rd as the Director of Bands in the Clare Public
Schools. Melissa holds her bachelor and master of Music Education
degrees from Central Michigan University. She also performs with the
Paradigm Brass Quintet and the C.M.U. Brass Band.
Shana Hiser - Shana
is in her senior year at Saginaw Valley State University as a music
education major. This will be her 5th summer as the French horn
instructor.
Tom Golden - Tom is the
Assistant Director of Bands in Cheboygan, and will join us for the
5th year as the Camp Jazz Band director.
Phil Popham
- Phil is a Doctoral oboe student at Michigan State University, and a
graduate of Peabody Conservatory of Music. This will be his 4th year as
our oboe and bassoon instructor.
Mary Ann Hubbard - This
will be MaryAnn’s 5th summer as our flute instructor. She is recently
retired from the Alpena Public Schools and is Chamber Music Director
and Flute Instructor at
Alpena
Community College
. She plays with the Gaylord Chamber Orchestra, Quintetto Sonare, and Wind Song Flute Quartet.
Stephanie Campeau - This
will be her 3rd summer as a saxophone asistant and coounselor. She
is a senior music education major at Grand Vally State
University.
Katie Hildebrand
- Katie is a senior music education major at Grand Valley State
University, and will be one of our clarinet instructors for the 2nd
year.
David Cook- This will be
David’s 2nd year as one of our clarinet instructors. He is sophomore
music education and performance major at Central Michigan University.
Eric Dluzniewski-
In his first year at camp, Eric will be one of our low brass
instructors. He is a senior euphonium performance major at Central
Michigan University.
Ken Heinlein-
Ken will also be a low brass instructor in his first year at Wolverine.
Ken holds a tuba performance degree from C.M.U. and a Masters degree
from the Cleveland Institute of Music.
Patrick Booth-
This will be Patrick’s first year as one of our saxophone instructor’s.
He is a senior at Central Michigan University, majoring in music
education.

2009 Session Date June 21-27 (7 days/6 nights) $385 per student
A Registration fee of $125 is required for each session
and is non-refundable after June 1st. Once a student checks in there
are no refunds for any reason.
