Shooting & Offensive Basketball Camp

What: A specialty camp with a  strong emphasis on the fundamentals of shooting and individual offensive moves. Campers will be taught the valuable habits of individual offense (shooting mechanics, footwork, moves with the ball, movement without the ball, passing, etc.) in a structured and positive atmosphere. The foundation of the camp will be repetition through drill work and competition... campers will learn by doing.  Along with offensive fundamentals, the concepts of hard work, self-discipline, and teamwork will also be emphasized.  Campers will leave camp knowing how to improve as players and as people.

 
 
 Where: Wolverine Camps is celebrating its 40th year in Wolverine, Michigan. A beautiful and scenic camp setting. Wolverine Camps provides a tremendous atmosphere for learning and fun. It is home to the state's only "outdoor" gymnasium! Along with "the roof", the Inland Lakes gymnasium will be utilized daily as needed. 
 

  When: June 30 - July 2nd, 2008
           Check-in from 10.- 11 a.m. on Monday, June 30th. Check-out on
           Wednesday, July 2nd by 3:00 p.m. 
           
 
  Who: For boys and girls ages 10 -17 years. 

THE BOYS AND GIRLS SESSIONS WILL BE CONDUCTED AT SEPARATE SITES.

Dean Lockwood - Director
  • University of Tennessee(Lady Vols) Assistant Basketball Coach
  • National Champion '87, '89, '91, '96, '97, '98, '07
  • Has coached 8 NBA draft choices and 7 All-Americans
  • GLIAC Coach of the Year 96-97
  • A former Wolverine camper, and counselor who has coached basketball for 25 seasons and has 28 years of camp experience.  
Jamie Pewinski - Assistant Director
  • Head Womens Basketball Coach, Lake Superior State University
  • Played at Oakland University.
  • 11 years Counselor at Wolverine Camps.
  • GLIAC Champions 2001, 02, 03, 04, 05.

 
  Dean Lockwood started as a camper and then a counselor at the Wolverine Fundamental Basketball Camp and believes deeply in the Wolverine experience. He is committed to carrying on the tradition of providing the best camp experience possible for all campers.
